About Floor Plan Drawer

Floor Plan Drawer is a free browser floor plan editor. You draw rooms and walls to real dimensions, add doors, windows and furniture, and see the same plan in 2D and 3D. It needs no account, sends nothing you draw to a server, and exports files you own.

Who makes it

Floor Plan Drawer is designed and built by Taro Schenker, an independent web developer based in Asunción, Paraguay. Taro writes the geometry engine, the 2D SVG editor and the Three.js 3D view, and maintains this site. Other work is at taroschenker.com and GitHub.

It is published by Known by One, LLC, 131 Continental Dr, Suite 305, Newark, Delaware 19713, United States. Known by One is a small independent software company. It does not sell data.

Why it is free

The editor runs entirely in your browser, so it costs almost nothing to serve. We may add optional paid features later (cloud saving, PDF and DXF export) and may show advertising, but the core editor, the furniture catalog and the current export formats stay free without an account.

How it was built

The product was researched against Floorplanner, Planner 5D, RoomSketcher and Homestyler in September 2026 and built to be the most approachable precise editor for homeowners and small studios: one authoritative document for both views, immediate feedback while drawing, recoverable work (undo, autosave, portable files) and honest capabilities. The full research notes and architecture are documented in the project repository.

What it does not do

We would rather tell you now than let you find out later. Floor Plan Drawer does not generate plans with AI, does not automatically recognise walls from a photo, does not produce structural or code-compliant construction drawings, does not export PDF or DXF yet, and does not render photorealistic images. Rooms are rectangular; curved and polygonal rooms are on the roadmap.

Accuracy

All geometry is stored in meters and converted for display. Dimensions are measured at wall centerlines. Floor area is the union of room footprints and is a planning figure, not a certified survey. If you find a measurement bug, tell us and we will fix it.
